Based on my play, The Early Girl shows the journey of a bright young woman who is backed into a corner and turns to prostitution for a solution she believes is temporary. She learns that prostitution is a cycle of punishment that takes a world of good to break. And that world finally presents itself in this brothel with her fellow working-women in the mountains of Idaho.
It’s a comedy. It’s very funny, and it has a happy ending, . . . in the Chekovian sense.
